Competent Tower Climber/Rescuer
Competent Tower Climber and Rescue courses include both classroom sessions, and hands-on experience focused on fall protection theory and proper techniques, for those in the tower industry. We discuss, and run through, the five methods of the fall protection hierarchy, introduce the proper equipment and the correct methods that should be used to protect climbers from the fall hazards that may be encountered when in a tower scenario.
Competent Tower Climber and Rescue is a 16-hour course, over 2 days, including classroom and practical skills training. A written test and an evaluation is administered at the end of day two. Once the climber passes the class, they will leave with an Authorized Climber certificate. After 90 days of holding that certification, the climber’s employer can contact ES and approve the climber as a Competent Climber and we will issue them a new upgraded card and certificate.
Students will have the opportunity to work with the appropriate equipment, exercise safe climbing techniques, and practice various rescue scenarios, including: self-rescue, ground-based rescue, tower-based rescue and pick-off rescues.
