Course takes place from 0830 – 1600 each day.

Required Equipment

  • Full body wetsuit (available for rent or purchase )
  • Appropriate canyon footwear (canyon boots, SWR boots, approach shoes, light hiking boots)
  • Helmet rated for mountaineering use
  • Canyon Harness (horizontal attachment point) – available for borrow or purchase from Elevated Safety Gear Shop
  • SWR whistle (Fox40)
  • Knife (SWR knife)

Required Skills

  • Physical Preparedness: Ready yourself for five days of eight-hour movement in demanding canyon environments.
  • Swiftwater Familiarity: Possess a strong foundation and comfort level in swiftwater environments.
  • Rope Rescue Proficiency: Demonstrate competency in rope rescue systems, including mechanical advantages of 3:1 and 5:1, as well as on-the-rope movement, ascent, and descent techniques.
